My houses are situated in the best student streets. Most are in Cathays, on the doorstep of the Cardiff University main campus. Others are in prime locations such as North Cathays for easy access to UHW/Heath Park campus, Penylan for Cardiff Met Cyncoed/Llandaff students, and several which offer easier access to USW ATRiuM.
Best standard of accommodation
All my houses are excellently maintained and most recently redeveloped under full architectural specification specifically as top quality student accommodation. All are redecorated annually and flooring, fixtures, fittings and appliances are upgraded regularly.
I strive to provide the very best facilities for students living in my houses – from top quality appliances such as American-style fridge/freezers and integrated dishwashers to modern efficient combi boilers and electrically-operated skylights, to name just a few. All bedrooms have double beds with luxurious memory foam mattresses, and all houses are furnished with top quality bedroom and kitchen furniture and Italian leather sofas. Every house is internet-ready (phone line and cable) and most have multiple bathrooms and additional WCs.

Maintenance & upkeep
I believe I am unique in Cardiff in having an extensive, full-time maintenance team catering solely for my tenants. My Maintenance Manager responds promptly to all calls and emails and will pass on specialist work to my electrician, plumber, gardener or one of my more specialised contractors if required, monitoring all work from reporting to completion.
All gardens are maintained regularly. Houses are repainted annually with exterior painting on a 4-year schedule, and all are regularly inspected to ensure all aspects of the property are maintained to the highest standard.
General support and care
Again, uniquely, I have a full-time Lettings Manager dedicated to overseeing all aspects of your tenancy – from helping you select the right house for you and drawing up your contract, to inspecting every house for maintenance and improvements, as well as helping you with any issues that may arise over the course of your stay with us.
Based at our Welcome Office on Woodville Road, he will co-ordinate your move in, handle the transfer of your utility accounts to ensure moving is as simple as possible, manage your rent account, and provide extensive guidance on how to get the best out of your year or more in your John Winter house.

Safe and secure
All my houses were bought and redeveloped with safety security a top priority. Very few have back or lane entrances. All front doors benefit from the latest in specialist high security door locks, and all back doors and windows have appropriate locking mechanisms as required. Gas and electrical safety is annually checked and certified, carbon monoxide detectors, smoke and heat sensors are fitted to every house, and all my houses are registered with, and exceed the requirements of, the Council’s HMO licensing scheme.
Importantly, I have always selected houses in locations that feel and are known to be safe.
